President Prabowo Subianto revealed Indonesia's largest-ever Cabinet on Sunday, aptly named the 'Red and White Cabinet' after the national flag. The ambitious setup involves 109 members as part of Subianto's promise to create a robust government.
Despite some analysts criticizing the extensive Cabinet as bureaucratically cumbersome, Subianto insists it will unify Indonesia's diverse political landscape. The new Cabinet includes members from a coalition of seven supporting parties and figures from former President Joko Widodo's team, symbolizing continuity and political alliance.
Subianto, backed by Widodo, secured a resounding election victory. Maintaining policy continuity, he reappointed many of Widodo's ministers, including the respected Finance Minister Sri Mulyani Indrawati, highlighting his intent to blend experience with new goals of increased economic growth.
