The Karnataka Congress is gearing up for the upcoming Assembly by-polls, with Chief Minister Siddaramaiah confirming the allocation of the Sandur ticket to Annapurna, the wife of Bellary MP E Tukaram. Final decisions on candidates for Shiggaon and Channapatna are expected soon.
The by-elections were necessitated after representatives from the Sandur, Shiggaon, and Channapatna constituencies were elected to the Lok Sabha in May. The BJP has already finalized its candidates for Sandur and Shiggaon, but has ceded the Channapatna seat to its alliance partner JD(S).
Speculation is rife regarding the Channapatna constituency, with discussions around the potential candidacy of Deputy Chief Minister D K Shivakumar's brother, D K Suresh, and former BJP leader C P Yogeeshwara. The final decision remains uncertain as political maneuvers continue.
