U.S. Pledges Billions in Final Push of Aid for Ukraine
The U.S. announced nearly $6 billion in military and budget aid for Ukraine in Biden's final weeks, including $2.5 billion in security assistance. With intensifying Russian attacks, Biden emphasizes the urgency of reinforcing Ukraine before Trump assumes office, as future aid remains uncertain.
The United States declared an additional nearly $6 billion in military and budget aid for Ukraine on Monday. President Joe Biden is ensuring a substantial surge of support to Kyiv in his final weeks before President-elect Donald Trump takes charge.
Of the announced aid, $2.5 billion is directed towards security assistance. As Russia intensifies its assaults on Ukrainian infrastructure and civilians, Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen underlined Ukraine's dire need for resources, revealing an additional $3.4 billion in budget assistance.
Yellen stated this aid marks the last allocation under the 2024 Ukraine Security Supplemental Appropriations Act. Since the start of Russia's invasion roughly three years ago, the U.S. has allocated $175 billion in assistance to Ukraine.
