In a show of unity against the ruling government, Samajwadi Party MP Dimple Yadav declared the entire opposition's opposition to the Joint Parliamentary Committee (JPC) report on the Waqf (Amendment) Bill, 2024, which was introduced in the Rajya Sabha on Thursday. According to Yadav, even some National Democratic Alliance (NDA) members are backing the opposition.
Congress National President Mallikarjun Kharge condemned the exclusion of dissent notes from opposition members, stating the report was anti-democratic. He called for the report's re-evaluation, sparking uproar in both parliamentary houses. Kharge emphasized the need for dissenting views to be included.
Confronting the opposition's accusations, Leader of the House JP Nadda criticized their actions, asserting the need for parliamentary procedure respect. Despite their protests, Union Ministers Kiren Rijiju and Bhupendra Yadav defended the report's integrity, claiming no sections were omitted and dismissing the opposition's allegations as baseless.
