The Coordinating Committee on Manipur Integrity (COCOMI), a coalition of civil society organizations based in Imphal, criticized the imposition of President's rule in Manipur on Friday, describing it as undemocratic and unfortunate.

The Meitei organization accused the central government of using President's rule as a tactic to drive the state into further disarray. COCOMI's statement pointed to a perceived tactic of shifting blame onto alleged deficiencies of BJP legislators rather than directly addressing the issues plaguing the state.

The resignation of Chief Minister N Biren Singh led to the subsequent introduction of President's rule, further fueling political instability. COCOMI underscored the importance of maintaining democratic integrity and urged an immediate, transparent process to elect a new leader to restore governance swiftly.
