Veteran politician Suresh Kumar Routray made an emotional return to the Odisha Congress headquarters, marking the end of his nine-month expulsion period. The six-time MLA, who had been removed from Congress for anti-party activities during the 2024 general elections, expressed his profound relief and joy upon rejoining the party.

Routray, known for his longstanding allegiance to the Congress, tearfully expressed his dedication, describing the party as a 'temple' and viewing the Nehru family as 'God'. His expulsion stemmed from allegations related to his younger son's campaign as a BJD candidate in Bhubaneswar, which some claimed he supported.

Upon re-entering the party, Routray, accompanied by his elder son, was greeted warmly by allies. He acknowledged the supportive stance of OPCC President Bhakta Charan Das, vowing to work actively for the Congress and declaring his commitment to remain with the party for good.
