Backlash Over Telangana CM's Comments on PM Modi's Caste

Kishan Reddy emphasized the inclusivity of Modi's caste in the BC list during Congress rule and highlighted BJP's pro-backward class initiatives.

Union Coal Minister G Kishan Reddy has condemned Telangana Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy for remarks suggesting that Prime Minister Narendra Modi was not born into a backward class. G Kishan Reddy branded these comments as 'irresponsible,' insisting that Modi's community was recognized under the BC list during Congress's tenure in Gujarat.

Addressing journalists in Nalgonda, he pointed out that certain castes gained recognition as backward classes only after 1970 in the erstwhile Andhra Pradesh. He questioned whether Chief Minister Revanth Reddy would argue that all these communities are not backward classes either.

The BJP leader, who also serves as the party's president in Telangana, underscored the constitutional status granted to the BC Commission under Modi's leadership, contrasting it with the previous Congress governments. Revanth Reddy had earlier accused Modi of having an 'anti-BC mentality,' claiming Modi's caste was classified as 'forward' before his rise as Gujarat CM.
