U.S. House Speaker Mike Johnson recently emphasized the importance of national interests in shaping foreign policy to ensure the 'survival of the West.' Speaking at the Alliance for Responsible Citizenship (ARC) conference in London via video link, Johnson asserted that nations should fortify their own interests before aiding their neighbors.
Johnson stated, "It's a matter of common sense for each of our countries to acknowledge that we must each take care of our own houses before we help take care of the neighborhood." He encouraged America and its allies to focus on internal success for shared global prosperity.
His comments came as U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio mentioned Europe's involvement in forthcoming U.S.-Russia negotiations regarding Ukraine. Rubio downplayed European fears of exclusion, while Trump’s recent dialogue with Putin without European consultation raised attention.
