In a scathing address, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath criticized the previous Samajwadi Party government for its handling of the 2013 Kumbh Mela under Akhilesh Yadav's leadership. He claimed the administration lacked attention to the event, as demonstrated by their appointment of non-Sanatani Azam Khan as its in-charge.
Adityanath highlighted the enhanced success of the recent Maha Kumbh under his management, which saw participation from world leaders and Indian dignitaries. In response to social media criticism by leftists and socialists, he argued that the current event exemplified a message of unity and improvement over past chaos and corruption.
Addressing allegations of discrimination at the event, Adityanath refuted claims of bias based on caste or religion, asserting that all were welcome at Kumbh. He stressed that only those with negative intentions would face issues, while emphasizing the Kumbh's role in promoting unity and Prime Minister Modi's vision of 'Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat.'
