In a dramatic escalation of political tensions, P V Anvar, the state convener for the All India Trinamool Congress (AITC), has publicly accused Left leaders of sending party workers to attack him and members of the United Democratic Front (UDF). Anvar's incendiary remarks come on the heels of the UDF wresting control of the Chungathara panchayat from the Left Democratic Front (LDF).

Highlighting the alleged provocations, Anvar charged that Left party members are supplied with alcohol and drugs to target him and his associates. He warned of dire consequences if such actions continued, a clear indication of the fiery political rivalry prevailing in the region.

Having resigned from his position as a legislator after breaking ties with the LDF and joining the AITC, Anvar has expressed support for the UDF, although the latter has not formally embraced him. This political maneuvering comes amid accusations of threats by local Left leaders, which Anvar attributes to the politics of Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.
