The Bharatiya Janata Party's (BJP) MLA, Satish Upadhyay, has spoken out against the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), alleging significant corruption as revealed in a recent Comptroller and Auditor General (CAG) report. The report is set to be a focal point of discussion in the Delhi Assembly, as Upadhyay accuses AAP of benefiting relatives at the expense of public funds, leading to an alleged Rs 2,000 crore loss for the capital.
Upadhyay's statements, made during an interview with ANI, demanded answers from AAP regarding the financial implications on Delhi's budget. He contends that resources meant for the public welfare have been misused by dishonest figures within the party. Concurrently, the Congress party has demanded a broadened investigation into the Delhi liquor scam, following revelations in the CAG report.
At a press conference held at the All India Congress Committee (AICC) office, Delhi Congress leaders Devender Yadav and Sandeep Dikshit called for the report to be scrutinized by the Public Accounts Committee. They also urged for an investigation into possible BJP involvement during the excise policy's implementation, alleging collaboration between AAP and BJP. The leaders also raised concerns regarding the permissions for liquor vends in non-conforming wards and suggested the role of municipal corporations, under BJP's control at the time, should be examined.
