In a major political shake-up, seven new ministers in Bihar were allocated portfolios, with several returning members of the state cabinet, including a deputy chief minister, receiving new responsibilities. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar's coalition partner, the BJP, was prominent in the reshuffle.
The BJP, which now has 21 members in the 36-member cabinet post-expansion, saw Deputy CM Vijay Kumar Sinha stripped of the crucial road construction department. This portfolio was reassigned to Nitin Nabin, who relinquished the law department to Mangal Pandey. Sinha maintained control over mines and geology while acquiring agriculture, previously overseen by Pandey.
Hindustani Awam Morcha's representation was maintained by Santosh Kumar Suman, who managed minor water resources while new appointees assumed other portfolios like Information Technology and Disaster Management. Significant changes also saw the departments of industry, tourism, cooperatives, and urban development undergo leadership transitions as part of the broader cabinet shuffle.
