Vijayashanthi Returns: A Star in Politics

The AICC announced actress Vijayashanthi and others as its candidates for the Telangana Legislative Council election. Alongside Addanki Dayakar and Kethavath Shankar Naik, Vijayashanthi represents a strategic move to include diverse social groups. On Sunday, the AICC declared veteran film actress Vijayashanthi as one of its candidates alongside Addanki Dayakar and Kethavath Shankar Naik for the upcoming Telangana Legislative Council election on March 20.

The election, prompted by the retirement of five sitting MLCs, sees Congress strengthening its position through strategic nominations. Vijayashanthi, with a history in Telugu cinema and politics, previously served as a Lok Sabha member with BRS and has affiliations with Congress and BJP.

Congress, backing its pre-poll ally CPI, is expected to win four seats while BRS is projected to secure one, leveraging their performance in the Telangana Legislative Assembly.
