Following India's triumphant victory in the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya launched a fierce criticism against the Congress party on Monday. His comments came in response to contentious remarks made by Congress spokesperson Shama Mohamed about the Indian cricket team's captain, Rohit Sharma.
In a strong statement, Deputy CM Maurya asserted that Rohit Sharma delivered an appropriate response by leading India to win the Champions Trophy. Maurya also called for an apology from Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge and MP Rahul Gandhi, stressing action against Mohamed to prevent future occurrences.
Maurya's social media post on X highlighted the arrogance in questioning Sharma's fitness and captaincy, urging party leaders to apologize to Sharma and the Indian public. While Mohamed's post on X, critiquing Sharma's weight, was later removed, Congress distanced itself from her views, affirming respect for sporting figures.
