The political landscape in Telangana is witnessing a flurry of activity as the deadline for nominations to the state's Legislative Council draws to a close. Representing the ruling Congress party is Vijayashanthi, a celebrated actress-turned-politician, alongside fellow nominees Addanki Dayakar and Kethavat Shankar.
Amongst the contenders, Nellikanti Satyam has entered the race on behalf of Congress's ally, CPI, while Sravan Dasoju stands as the candidate from BRS. The nominations, closed on Monday, mark an important step ahead of the March 20 elections.
With political alliances in flux and shifts in party loyalties, the current balance of power in the 119-member Telangana Legislative Assembly suggests that the Congress and its partners are likely to secure the majority of available seats.
