Mumbai police apprehended 11 individuals affiliated with Yuva Sena on Monday for allegedly vandalizing the Habitat comedy venue. This act was a response to supposedly derogatory statements made by comedian Kunal Kamra in his YouTube special, 'Naya Bharat.'
During a performance by comedian Rajat Sood, the group reportedly halted the live show and caused damage to the venue, an incident attracting criticism from various political fronts. The opposition in Maharashtra highlighted a potential breakdown of law and order, while Eknath Shinde's Shiv Sena took a firm stand against Kamra's comments.
Accusations have surfaced involving funding origins for the comedy show, alleging connections to Matoshree, the residence of former Chief Minister Uddhav Thackeray. Despite an FIR against Kamra, Shiv Sena (UBT) leader Arvind Sawant defended his right to free expression amid growing political tension.
