Amid swirling merger rumors, NCP leader Anil Deshmukh firmly rejected speculation about any unification discussions between the factions led by Sharad Pawar and Ajit Pawar. The conjecture gained momentum following comments by the senior Pawar, spotlighting internal party dynamics.
In a press conference, Deshmukh, a former Maharashtra home minister, urged the formation of an inquiry committee to investigate allegations of fraudulent teacher recruitment in Nagpur. Deshmukh compared the scale of this alleged fraud to the notorious Vyapam scam in Madhya Pradesh, suggesting its impact might transcend Nagpur into wider Maharashtra.
Looking ahead, members of the Maha Vikas Aghadi aim to develop a joint strategy for the impending local body elections. The Supreme Court has mandated the State Election Commission to conduct these long-overdue elections within the next four months.
