Former Union Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad launched a scathing critique of the Congress party, focusing on its actions during the Emergency period, while addressing remarks made by opposition leader Rahul Gandhi about the Constitution being in danger.
Marking the 50th anniversary of the Emergency imposed by then Prime Minister Indira Gandhi, Prasad recounted various undemocratic measures taken during that time, such as censorship of writing, revocation of foreign journalists' licenses, and the alleged misuse of judiciary appointments.
Prasad insisted that younger generations must be informed about the severe impacts of the Emergency, accusing Congress of hypocrisy and highlighting BJP's sustained efforts to uphold democratic principles and transparency in governance.
