Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has sounded an alarm over what he describes as an 'undeclared Emergency' in the country. He accused the ruling Sangh Parivar of efforts to dismantle the Constitution, drawing parallels with the 1975 Emergency led by Indira Gandhi, which he termed the darkest chapter in India's democratic history.

Vijayan, a CPI(M) stalwart, detailed his views in a Facebook post marking 50 years since the infamous period. The Chief Minister underscored that the Emergency period was not an isolated event but the result of chronic authoritarianism and the suppression of civil liberties in India. He stated that current political developments echo past horrors.

BJP state president Rajeev Chandrasekhar also criticized the Congress, claiming it has historically undermined constitutional rights for dynasty preservation. He noted that the Congress was engaging with 'anti-constitutional' factions to continue 'corrupt politics', overshadowing public interest with familial power agendas.
