Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences on Monday following the death of former Kerala chief minister V S Achuthanandan, acknowledging his extensive commitment to public service and the advancement of Kerala.
Achuthanandan, an esteemed figure in India's communist history and a pivotal force in Kerala's political scene, passed away at the age of 101. The Communist Party of India (Marxist) state secretary, M V Govindan, confirmed his passing.
The former chief minister died at 3.20 pm in the critical care unit of Pattom SUT Hospital, as reported by an official hospital bulletin. Modi shared his memories of their discussions during their tenures as state leaders and offered his sympathies to Achuthanandan's family and supporters in this difficult time.
