Court Delays Decision on MP Engineer Rashid's Parliament Attendance

A Delhi court postponed its decision regarding Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid's request to attend the monsoon Parliament session. Rashid, facing trial in a terror funding case, sought bail or custody parole to fulfill his duties. The National Investigation Agency opposed interim bail, suggesting parole only with travel cost payment.

The Delhi court has put off its ruling on Lok Sabha MP Engineer Rashid's application to join the ongoing Parliament monsoon session until July 22. Rashid, holding the office from Baramulla, requested interim bail or custody parole for duty execution at the legislative body.

The plea, reserved for judgment since July 15 by Additional Sessions Judge Chander Jit Singh, found opposition from the National Investigation Agency. They contested interim bail and proposed custody parole conditional on covering travel expenses.

Rashid's incarceration, which began in 2019 following his arrest by the NIA for alleged terror funding activities, continues while he awaits trial. His arrest is part of a larger investigation involving connections with terrorist and separatist financing in Jammu and Kashmir.
