Congress MP Shashi Tharoor has strongly criticized the recent arrest of two Catholic nuns in Chhattisgarh, labeling it as a 'gross injustice.' The arrest, which occurred at the Durg railway station, is based on accusations from a local Bajrang Dal functionary, alleging forced conversion and trafficking of tribal women.

The incident has sparked protests, with a Congress team from Kerala visiting Raipur to support the detained nuns, Preethi Mary and Vandana Francis. Tharoor, speaking at the Parliament House complex, emphasized that the nuns were unjustly arrested and were merely helping tribal girls secure employment opportunities in the city.

Despite Tharoor's discussions with BJP ministers and promises from BJP individuals in Kerala to secure bail for the nuns, no progress has been made. The situation remains tense, with the nuns still in custody a week after their detention.
