Senior Congress leader Gaurav Gogoi on Sunday expressed doubts over the neutrality of the Election Commission, leading to calls from opposition parties for a parliamentary debate on voter list revisions.
Speaking at the Extended Executive Meeting of Assam's Congress unit, Gogoi criticized the BJP-led central government for not permitting discussions on the Election Commission's activities despite appointing the Chief Election Commissioner.
Gogoi alleged that the government might be hiding manipulations in previous elections and highlighted instances of voters finding their names missing from the list. He also criticized the Union Home Minister regarding the Pahalgam terror attack.
