The opposition parties, BJD and Congress, are intensifying protests in Odisha over women's safety concerns. This escalation follows the tragic deaths of a minor girl in Puri and a college student in Balasore, both under controversial circumstances.
The BJD initiated a district-wide 'hartal' in Puri to demand justice for the minor girl who suffered fatal burn injuries. Concurrently, the Congress plans to conduct rallies in Puri's Balanga and Balasore, highlighting alleged failures in the investigation of two cases involving the deaths of young women.
Both parties accuse the BJP-led government of shielding culprits, urging law enforcement to act conscientiously. The opposition has vowed continued pressure, with a seven-day ultimatum issued to the police and plans to gherao the DGP office if justice remains unserved.
