In a charged statement on Tuesday, Congress MP Manickam Tagore accused the central government of a deliberate strategy to obstruct parliamentary proceedings since the start of the monsoon session. Tagore claimed the government is reluctant to address key issues, notably the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) exercise in Bihar, which the opposition insists on discussing.
Tagore expressed frustration over the government's alleged fear of addressing electoral reforms, particularly issues surrounding voter inclusion and the electoral process. He accused the government of arrogance, which he suggested has led to a 12-day impasse in Parliament. Tagore also took aim at Prime Minister Narendra Modi, criticizing his absence and silence in Parliament, particularly regarding decisions made by US President Donald Trump.
Questioning Modi's leadership, Tagore highlighted Modi's reticence to counter Trump's latest tariffs threat, which negatively impacts India. Senior Congress leader Jairam Ramesh added fuel to the fire, lampooning the purported friendship between Modi and Trump as costly for India. Ramesh referenced previous events like 'Howdy Modi' and 'Namaste Trump' to question the integrity of Modi's diplomatic relations, casting doubt on the true nature of the Modi-Trump alliance.
