In a candid speech, Harsha de Silva defended India's position against US President Donald Trump's trade policies, labeling them as unjust and selective. He reminded officials of India's assistance with credit and humanitarian support during Sri Lanka's financial crisis.
The US recently raised tariffs on Indian goods to 50 percent, citing India’s ongoing oil imports from Russia. Amid this, India was vital in supporting Sri Lanka with over USD 4 billion in aid, highlighting the geopolitical complexities.
