Opposition Criticizes Constitutional Amendment Bill as Divisive Tactic

Opposition parties, including Congress and CPI, strongly oppose the Constitution Amendment Bill introduced by the Union Government. The opposition has launched a scathing critique of the Constitution Amendment Bill, labeling it as a diversion by the ruling BJP to deflect attention from other pressing issues. Congress MP KC Venugopal condemned the bill, describing it as a 'draconian law' and an attempt to 'constitutionalize vendetta politics.'

Communist Party of India (CPI) MP P Sandosh Kumar emphasized the opposition's unified stance against the bill, warning of the National Democratic Alliance morphing into what he termed the 'National Destruction Alliance.' Kumar accused BJP-controlled agencies of filing arbitrary charges against ministers, thus undermining the federal structure.

Echoing similar sentiments, Trinamool Congress MP Abhishek Banerjee accused the government of shirking its constitutional duties, focusing instead on consolidating 'power, wealth, and control without accountability.' He warned that the move to amend the Constitution poses a threat to India's sovereignty, democracy, and the fundamental rights of its citizens.
