Maharashtra Congress President Harshwardhan Sapkal has called for the immediate resignation of Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis following allegations of vote theft in the Rajura assembly constituency. Sapkal claims 6,850 votes were manipulated, a malpractice now substantiated by an FIR registered by the state police, which operates under Fadnavis's home ministry.
Criticizing the integrity of the election process, Sapkal accused the ruling Mahayuti alliance of subverting democracy with assistance from the Election Commission. He voiced concerns over the political stance of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, suggesting bias. Sapkal linked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the BJP's approach to political systems in Nepal and Sri Lanka.
In other remarks, Sapkal celebrated Goods and Services Tax reforms as a win for Rahul Gandhi's long-standing vision. Acknowledging the plight of farmers, he demanded compensation for crop damage from recent heavy rains and criticized the government's language policy in schools, emphasizing the cultural importance of Marathi.
