The Election Commission has announced that the bye-election for the Ghatshila (ST) assembly constituency in Jharkhand is set for November 11, coinciding with the second phase of the Bihar polls. The seat is vacant following the death of Jharkhand Education Minister Ramdas Soren on August 15.
Nominations for the bye-election close on October 21, with the deadline for withdrawal on October 24. Votes will be tallied on November 14. Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) and Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) systems will be used in this election.
The Election Commission emphasizes maintaining a pure electoral roll, having conducted a Special Summary Revision referenced to July 1, 2025, for the Ghatshila constituency. The final electoral roll was published on September 29, and updates will continue until the nomination deadline.
