In a dramatic revelation, the Jammu and Kashmir Police recovered a mobile phone belonging to Dr. Umar-un-Nabi, the orchestrator of the Red Fort suicide bombing. The extracted data presents a series of chilling videos where Umar justifies his acts as 'martyrdom operations' and shows his deep radicalisation.

The breakthrough came following the interrogation of Zahoor Illahi, Umar's brother, who was involved in the attack. Illahi's cooperation led the police to the dumping site of the phone, providing key insights into the extremist activities and networks operating across multiple states. Umar's radicalisation is believed to have intensified following a trip to Turkiye in 2021.

The foiled December plot, involving a Vehicle-borne Improvised Explosive Device (VBIED), was intended to coincide with the Babri Masjid demolition anniversary. The meticulous investigation by Srinagar police has drawn attention to inter-state terror activities, leading to multiple arrests and the prevention of further catastrophic attacks.
