In an unexpected political maneuver, Maharashtra's Hassan Mushrif and Samarjeet Ghatge have set aside their rivalry to form an alliance ahead of the local body elections in Kolhapur district.

This partnership marks the second instance of the two factions of the NCP uniting for electoral gains, following an alliance in Chandgad.

The leadership cited better governance and regional development as their core motivations for uniting, amidst opposition from local political figures like former Shiv Sena MP Sanjay Mandlik.
