Ukraine Seeks Diplomatic Path to Peace with Russia

Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy has announced plans to revive diplomatic efforts aimed at concluding the ongoing conflict with Russia. He emphasized the crucial role of gaining international backing for these initiatives during a press conference in Madrid with Spain's Prime Minister.

Zelenskiy revealed intentions to engage in talks with Turkey's President Tayyip Erdogan to explore ways of achieving a 'just peace' for Ukraine. Turkey previously hosted negotiations between Ukraine and Russia in spring 2022 and earlier this year, despite those discussions failing to stop the conflict.

Zelenskiy also hinted at potential developments from the United States, noting some progress but withholding specifics. His talks with Erdogan are expected to focus on substantive discussions toward peace.
