The United Democratic Front (UDF) in Kerala has unveiled an ambitious manifesto ahead of the upcoming local body elections, pledging substantial welfare programs including the construction of five lakh houses for the needy within five years.

The manifesto promises a monthly allowance of Rs 2,000 for ASHA workers and introduces an exclusive program for elderly welfare, significant efforts aimed at poverty eradication for ration card holders, and improved waste management solutions.

Labeled 'Ashraya 2.0,' a plan for poverty alleviation will be activated, marking a return of a scheme previously shelved by the ruling government. Scheduled for December 9 and 11, the polls will also address human-animal conflicts and public health with mobile Animal Birth Control units and special squads.
