Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has launched a sharp critique against the Lieutenant Governor administration, alleging a calculated campaign to undermine the elected government. His comments followed the controversial demolition of structures, including a journalist's home, by the Jammu Development Authority (JDA), which has sparked widespread condemnation.
Abdullah claims that officers, allegedly acting on directives from Raj Bhavan, are using bulldozers without necessary permissions, thereby conspiring to tarnish the image of the elected government. He underscores the necessity for the elected government to have control over deploying field staff to prevent such unilateral actions.
The Chief Minister questioned the motives behind the selective targeting by the JDA and demanded a comprehensive list of illegal encroachments. He accused the authorities of potentially discriminating based on religion, labeling the actions as politically motivated interference in the state's governance following electoral setbacks.
