The Congress party is mourning the loss of one of its stalwart leaders, Sriprakash Jaiswal, who suffered a fatal cardiac arrest in Kanpur on Friday. Party president Mallikarjun Kharge expressed his deepest condolences, saluting Jaiswal's commitment to the development and welfare of the city of Kanpur.
Jaiswal, a former Union minister, was an influential figure in Uttar Pradesh's political landscape. Admitted to a nursing home initially, he was later taken to the Cardiology Hospital where doctors declared him dead on arrival. He was 81 years old.
Several Congress leaders shared heartfelt tributes. Salman Khurshid praised Jaiswal's impact on Kanpur politics, while MP Manickam Tagore recalled his humility and dedication. The Congress party emphasized the irreparable loss Jaiswal's departure represents to national politics, lauding his storied career which included pivotal roles in the UPA government.
