Hindu Right Wing Groups Protest Muslim Admissions at Jammu Medical Institute

Hindu right wing groups in Jammu protested against the admission of Muslim students at SMVDIME, demanding exclusive Hindu reservations. They accused the government and Shrine Board of mishandling the issue and staged a dharna. The SMVSS spearheaded the movement, with BJP seeking official intervention.

In Jammu, Hindu right wing groups took to the streets protesting the admission of Muslim students at the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Institute of Medical Excellence. Spearheaded by the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Sangharsh Samiti, the demonstrators demanded that seats be reserved for Hindu students.

The protesters, under the banner of various Hindu outfits like BJP, VHP, and Shiv Sena, criticized Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and the Shrine Board for not addressing their concerns. An effigy of the Chief Minister was burnt, and a dharna was staged to block traffic temporarily.

The Samiti, questioning the merit-based admission process, accused the authorities of sidelining Hindu interests. They contended that institutions supported by Hindu donations should prioritize Sanatan Dharma values. The BJP has sought intervention from the National Medical Commission to restrict admissions to Hindu students.
