From Mumbai to Guwahati: Inside the Shiv Sena Split

The book will cover the faction's journey from Mumbai to Guwahati, causing the fall of the Uddhav Thackeray-led government.

Maharashtra Minister and Shiv Sena leader Uday Samant announced plans to write a book on the 2022 split in the party, during which Eknath Shinde formed an alliance with the BJP. This announcement was made while he attended a function, via video link, to honor writer Vishwas Patil.

Samant's book, tentatively titled 'Mumbai to Guwahati via Surat', aims to explore the events that led to the rebellion against Uddhav Thackeray's leadership. Shinde and his loyal MLAs initially traveled from Mumbai to Surat, before flying to Guwahati where they strategized.

The split ultimately led to the collapse of the Maha Vikas Aghadi government led by Uddhav Thackeray, marking a significant political shift in Maharashtra.
