On Saturday, Bihar's Chief Minister, Nitish Kumar, inaugurated a membership drive for the Janata Dal (United) party, which he leads. Set for 2025-2028, the drive aims to enroll one crore members, surpassing previous targets.

The inaugural event witnessed Kumar becoming the first to register, with JD(U)'s national working president Sanjay Jha, senior leader Bashishtha Narain Singh, and state president Umesh Kushwaha following suit. The initiative is expected to fortify the party's membership base and build on the public's strong electoral support.

Jha praised Kumar's recognition in the World Book of Records, London, as the longest-serving CM of Bihar, having taken the oath ten times. Party leaders, buoyed by past electoral victories, anticipate the drive's success and welcome the potential political entry of Kumar's son, Nishant Kumar.
