In a tense standoff in Assam's Morigaon district, several individuals, including a police officer, were injured during a police lathicharge on protesters demanding legislative inclusion.
The All Tiwa Students' Union blocked National Highway-27, calling for the Tiwa council areas' inclusion in the Constitution's Sixth Schedule and addressing local grievances.
Protestors criticized the BJP-led government for neglect, threatening intensification of their agitation. The clash arose while clearing the highway, leading to minor injuries among protesters and law enforcement. The situation has since been brought under control.
