Former Odisha Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik has sharply criticized the Mohan Charan Majhi government over its alleged failure to spend on public development. Patnaik, who led the state for 24 years, accused the current administration of neglect and reiterated public concerns about the lack of developmental expenditure.
In contrast, at the Global Energy Leaders' Summit-2025 in Puri, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi emphasized the state's commitment to renewable energy. Majhi outlined plans for a coal gasification plant and addressed efforts aligned with Prime Minister Modi's call for net zero emissions.
However, moments of turmoil arose as internet services were suspended in Malkangiri district for 24 hours. The suspension followed violent clashes between villages, with authorities citing the spread of inflammatory content on social media platforms as a threat to public order.
