Mayawati, leader of the Bahujan Samaj Party, has voiced concern over the limited timeframe for the Special Intensive Revision (SIR) process, aimed at updating the voter list across India.
In a statement shared on X, she emphasized that the compressed timeline places excessive strain on Booth Level Officers (BLOs), tragically resulting in fatalities due to work pressure.
Highlighting Uttar Pradesh's voter count exceeding 15.40 crores, she warned that rushing the SIR could disenfranchise many eligible voters, particularly the impoverished and migratory workers, thereby stripping them of their fundamental voting rights.
