On Wednesday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid homage to the iconic freedom fighter C Rajagopalachari, widely regarded as Rajaji, marking his 147th birth anniversary.

The Prime Minister underscored Rajaji's enduring influence, branding him as one of the 20th century's sharpest minds who steadfastly championed human dignity and value creation. Modi reflected on Rajaji's diverse roles as a freedom fighter, thinker, intellectual, and statesman.

Recognized early as Gandhi's political ally, Rajaji played pivotal roles in movements against British colonial rule, including the Rowlatt Act and Civil Disobedience movement. He served as India's last Governor-General and was conferred the Bharat Ratna in 1954. The Prime Minister shared rare archival images and documents to honor his legacy.
