The political landscape in Maharashtra is poised for a shift as Shiv Sena (UBT) and Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) plan to consolidate forces for the forthcoming civic elections in key cities like Mumbai, Thane, Pune, and Nashik. Sanjay Raut, the Shiv Sena MP, has confirmed that a formal announcement regarding this strategic alliance will be made soon.

Sanjay Raut has appealed to the Congress leadership to consider contesting the polls under the Opposition Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA), alongside the Raj Thackeray-led MNS, although Congress has deferred the decision to its local ranks. The alliance is especially significant with municipal elections set for 29 corporations on January 15, reshaping state politics.

With local contributions being pivotal, the Shiv Sena (UBT) seeks to ensure its agility in adapting to the local political climate. Meetings between Shiv Sena (UBT) and MNS representatives continue, aiming for consensus on seat sharing and coordination. Meanwhile, the Congress' stand appears hesitant, prompting concern from the Shiv Sena about future electoral challenges.
