The Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) staged a protest in Ranchi on Tuesday, accusing the Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM)-led government of postponing scholarship payments to students from Dalit, tribal, and Other Backward Classes (OBC) backgrounds. The delay has affected thousands since 2024.

In a dramatic demonstration of their discontent, hundreds of BJYM activists participated in a symbolic 'funeral procession' targeting the Hemant Soren government. The procession started at the Zila School Ground and concluded at Albert Ekka Chowk, where they set an effigy ablaze to express their anger.

"Scholarships are a right for students, and promises were made by the ruling party before taking office," said Ranchi district BJP president Varun Sahu. He warned that the BJP would bring up the issue in the next assembly session if necessary actions aren't taken promptly.
