In a fiery address on Thursday, actor-turned-politician Vijay sharply criticized Tamil Nadu's ruling DMK, labeling it an 'evil force.' This term echoes the sentiments of the late AIADMK stalwarts M G Ramachandran and J Jayalalithaa, who used similar language to describe the Dravidian party.

Vijay proclaimed his party, the Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), as a 'pure force' and implied that the major contest in the 2026 elections would be between the 'evil' DMK and the 'pure' TVK. This statement came during his first public appearance in Tamil Nadu following a tragic stampede at a TVK rally.

Speaking to the crowd, Vijay alleged that vested interests were conducting a smear campaign against him. He invoked late CMs MGR and Jayalalithaa, asserting their universal appeal, and criticized the DMK's governance on several issues, while highlighting new party entrants like former AIADMK leader K A Sengottaiyan.
