The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) elections see the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance on the cusp of victory, according to Thursday's exit polls. Predictions show them leading with 131-151 seats, leaving the Thackeray brothers in second place and highlighting a weak performance by Congress and its partners.
Voter data from Axis My India forecasts the Mahayuti allies securing a 42% vote share, with BJP's portion at 28% and Shiv Sena's at 14%. The Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS-NCP (SP) group is expected to collect 58-68 seats as the Congress-VBA-RSP coalition languishes with 12-16 seats.
Predictions by DV Research also indicate a favourable outcome for the BJP-Shiv Sena duo, estimating a potential 107-122 seats. However, the Thackeray alliance could clinch between 68-83 seats, while the Congress-led faction is poised for 18-35 seats. The final election results will be pivotal in gauging the enduring influence of the Thackeray name in Maharashtra.
