In light of the BJP's impressive win in the Maharashtra municipal elections, H D Kumaraswamy, Union Minister and influential leader of JD(S), expressed his party's readiness to explore all options regarding the upcoming local body elections in Karnataka, notably in Bengaluru.
This stance marks a shift from former Prime Minister H D Deve Gowda's position, which delineated JD(S)'s alliance with BJP strictly to national and assembly elections, not extending to local contests. Gowda had previously emphasized JD(S) running solo in local polls.
The union minister praised BJP's success in Maharashtra and reiterated JD(S)'s dedication to challenging the Congress's governance in Karnataka. He underlined the need for strategic decisions to enhance Bengaluru's administration and combat corruption under the guise of development, particularly highlighting ongoing negligence in civic issues.
