In an unexpected twist, the BJP, under the leadership of former chief minister Ashok Chavan, triumphed in the Nanded-Waghala City Municipal Corporation elections, winning 45 out of 81 seats. This victory marks the end of a long-standing Congress dominance in the civic body.
The AIMIM emerged as another significant player, securing 15 seats. Meanwhile, in a stark contrast to its previous performance, the Congress managed to win only 10 seats, aligning with Vanchit Bahujan Aghadi's five-seat gain.
Despite having two MLAs, the Shiv Sena was limited to four seats, with the NCP and an independent candidate claiming one seat each. The elections mark a significant political shift, reflecting the changing allegiances and dynamics within the region.
