A critically injured paratrooper, Havildar Gajendra Singh, has succumbed to his injuries amid an ongoing search operation in Kishtwar district's challenging terrain. The operation, known as Operation TRASHI-I, entered its second day as security forces remain on high alert, officials report.
The military operation launched in Sonnar village near Mandral-Singhpora saw a fierce gunfight resulting in eight soldiers sustaining injuries, primarily from a grenade attack by terrorists hiding in the area. Havildar Singh passed away during treatment at a military hospital, prompting tributes from the White Knight Corps.
Authorities continue the operation with drones, sniffer dogs, and support from police and paramilitary forces in their efforts to prevent the suspected Jaish-e-Mohammad terrorists from escaping. The ongoing joint counter-terror exercises highlight the region's heightened security challenges leading up to Republic Day celebrations.
