Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) leader TKS Elangovan has publicly alleged that Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief and actor Vijay is under political pressure following his appearance at the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) office. Elangovan accused the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of misusing federal agencies to achieve political objectives.
Elangovan specifically charged the BJP with exerting influence on Vijay by delaying the censor certification for his film 'Jana Nayagan,' suggesting an intention to coerce him. He criticized the BJP for allegedly behaving like a 'washing machine,' dropping charges against individuals who align with the party. The Supreme Court, meanwhile, has refused to entertain a plea from the 'Jana Nayagan' producers, urging the Madras High Court to decide by January 20 on halting the film's certification process.
The film, slated for a January 9 release, marks Vijay's last project before fully entering politics with his own party, TVK. Vijay recently reached Delhi for a CBI inquiry over a stampede incident at a party campaign that left 41 dead. The agency's investigation focuses on understanding the disaster's mechanics and chronology.
